AR for Laser
Interrogation Surface Agent (ARCAM)

ITT has developed an Augmented Reality (AR) system to be
used with contaminate detectors that can locate the precise area of
a contaminant. AR superimposes graphics on live video and labels
detected areas. This system shows in an intuitive way where and
which types of surface-deposited substances have been detected in a
contaminated scene. This collocated qualitative and spatial
information can increase the responders’ situational awareness,
search strategies and safety by providing several functions:
• Shows scan lines for the area tested
• Visualizes detected contaminate type and area
• Location of contaminant stored in database for later use
• Hands-free marking of the contaminated scene, no
disruption of evidence due to physical marking
• Allows for safe training by simulation of contaminate
scenarios using graphics

The Laser Interrogation of Surface Agents (LISA) system is
a portable contaminate detector being developed by the Advance
Engineering and Sciences division of ITT. ARCAM is planned to be
used with this system as an optional visualization device.
