Autonomous GPS path following
to 30 MPH.
-
The vehicle follows a
GPS waypoint trail recorded earlier by driving the vehicle along
a rout while recording at the base station.
-
The vehicle can be
downloaded with trails, which it stores locally in a trails
database.
-
The vehicle can be
remotely commanded to go to and then follow any trail in its
database.
-
The max target speed
for the vehicle to use can be remotely changed at any time.
-
The vehicle
automatically slows for turns and stops gracefully when the
destination is reached.
-
In the video, the
entire path is followed using 30 MPH as the target speed.
-
The vehicle reaches
this speed in the straight-aways.
-
The safety driver has
his hands in the air (and feet away from the pedals) during the
entire demonstration.

Leader-Follower operation with auto pick-up and drop-off.
-
The "leader" vehicle
is a personal sedan with a leader beacon kit installed (can be
installed in about 4 minutes).
-
In Leader-Follower
operations there is no pre recorded trail.
-
The follower vehicle
receives GPS waypoints from the leader vehicle on-the-fly.
-
The follower vehicle
paces itself to maintain a safe distance for the current speed.
-
The follower vehicle
stops at a safe (configurable) distance whenever the leader
vehicle stops.
-
The operator in the
leader vehicle presses a button to "pick-up" the follower and
another button to "drop-off" the follower.
-
In the video, the
safety driver in the follower vehicle has his hands in the air
(and feet away from the pedals) during the entire demonstration.
